The Revenge of Little Sister: A Female Riders Pet Peeves

By: Sassy,
VP/Founder A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S. MC based out of Cincinnati, OH

When I think of pet peeves of a female club/rider four phrases, questions or comments  come immediately to mind:  “Can you handle that bike?”, “Does your club ride?”, “dance offs”, and “quality over quantity”.

I am sure that many of the ladies can relate to this pet peeve.  When a man sees a female on a bike (particularly a nice bike) they tend to fix their lips to ask the silly question: “Can you handle that?”  Never mind the fact the woman is obviously riding that bike but the question inevitably gets asked. It’s as if the dumb question alarm goes off but they still go ahead and allow it come out their mouth.

But the really funny part or pet peeve is when the question comes from a male who is riding in a car and the assumption is he doesn’t know anything about motorcycles. For example, when I was riding my old bike and a guy was called me “Katana” and had the nerve to ask could I handle that bike and what size was it.

“Is that a 650? Since when a Katana come in 650cc??”

Or another example is when this guy who was in a club and didn’t have a bike asked me can I handle that bike, tying to be funny because I was the only female riding with the guys. I just simply replied “and this is coming from the guy who doesn’t have a bike” (he was mad at me for over a year, behind my response, lol). Another time is when a guy rolled up on me at the light on a “Katana” (I know it seems as if I’m picking on the Katana motorcycle but I’m not. My first bike was a Katana. Heck, I even put the “pink panther” in bike shows a couple times, had it featured in magazines and in a Katt Williams stand-up video, so nothing against the bike at all).  But please, please do not ride up or should I say walk up (lol) next to my stack (GSXR-1000 that is stretched 8 inches, slammed in the front, shinko tire, with T-Force full exhaust, not slip on) and ask if I can handle MY bike.

“ Ummm can you handle that scooter?”

My second pet peeve: “Does your club ride?” is the question many female clubs get when others on the set (male and female) see them for the first time.  While I understand the reason behind the question and even why the question is asked, it still bothers me.

The question in itself does not bother me (heck I have even asked the question), but the very reason the question even has to be asked OF a female motorcycle club is what bothers me.  The reason is far too many pop-up female clubs that exist rocking either RC (riding club) or MC (motorcycle club), when in reality they are a SC (social club).  Please note that just because you a have President or even Vice-President who rides and no one else in the club rides, does not make you MC. If your club is not at least 80% on iron, then ladies (also co-ed) you are not MC. You are in fact SC.  Pop up clubs especially female pop up clubs who do not know the protocol and only want to start a club because they think it’s hot and want to wear a vest, only to damage the creditability of well established female clubs who have done the hard work and put in the time on them two wheels.  It really makes it hard for female clubs such as them ground pounding A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S. Motorcycle Club.

Ladies if you want respect on the set as a motorcycle club, then you must EARN IT! Invest the time and energy to understand the MC life (world), do your homework, research, research, and research again what it took for women to even be recognized as riders.  Please respect and be respectful, respect even if you do not agree.  Additionally, earn it on them two wheels; wind in the hair and not just in your city.

Another pet peeve that coincides with “does your club ride” is when there is a tie at a function for largest female motorcycle club in attendance.  Why is it when there is a tie, in order to break the tie, we are reduced to some demeaning act?  For example a “dance off”;.  I am not a member of a dance club, but a motorcycle club.  Are the men expected to do a dance off when there is a tie amongst them????

The A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S. were at a party and there was a tie for largest female club, so they said in order to break the tie, you all will have to dance for it.  (Let me be clear, I could really care less about the trophy, but more importantly the respect and not just as a female motorcycle club, but respect to MCing).  So they actually expected us to participate in this dance off, so we did.  (If you can not beat them join them at their own game).  So as people lined up to see what they thought was going to be “drop it like its hot” dance off, the A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S lined up and proceeded to shuffle down the line with licenses (motorcycle endorsements) in hand pretending to sweep the floor with them.  Needless to say we won, without having to shake our rump, but shake the ground with licenses and bike keys in hand (lol).  I’m just saying, you don’t ask men clubs to dance off, so don’t ask female clubs.

My final pet peeve is “quality over quantity”.  At the end of the day it should not be about how many members you have, but what your members do (ride that iron pony).  I want to be clear this is a lesson as a founder, I, learned the hard way, but what is important is I learned it and I continue to practice it.  Like Sucka Free MC had touched on in a previous blog, you can have all the large numbers, but without quality brotherhood (sisterhood) you have nothing.  You learn the value and importance of sisterhood when you pound that ground together.  A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S. ride often, but every now in then we are reminded the importance of our sisterhood.  For example this summer (2012) a few of the club sisters rode our sport bikes from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh.  On our way home, I was leading the pack and was cut off by a car, I was quickly reminded, the importance when my sisters (Sgt. at Arms) came up from behind next to the cager to let him know that he had just cut me off.  Let me say it not only felt good but we looked good, as we all quickly lined back up in our staggered formation.

Let me say if you are going to start a club, press the issue of quality.  Additionally, if you are starting or joining a club, know their history.  Know the significance of the patch and how it came about.  If the club does not know its significance of their patch I would carefully re-evaluate being a member.  When we founded A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S. we did our research. There was considerable thought put into the design of the logo.  The first thing we did was research to ensure that there were NO other motorcycle clubs that existed with the name A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S. even though it is an antonym.  (S/N I wish all clubs did this, esp. the one in Florida that recently popped up, bearing our name). Nothing like going somewhere and another club has your name, but is associated with negativity.  Our name has its own meaning= Alluring Lovely Ladies Sophisticate Talented AndRiding Steel.  So our name in itself tells you that we ride.  Our colors red, white, and blue symbolized freedom.  Freedom from BS, the freedom we feel when we mount them iron ponies and the wind blows in our hair.  The freedom you feel, when you are having a bad day and the only thing that makes you feel better is a nice ride on the motorcycle.  Our patch has three ladies and three bikes, which further demonstrates that we ride (s/n do not put a motorcycle on your patch if you are a SC, ijs).  Our city is in the background with the road behind us, which demonstrates that we pound the ground and not just in our city (which is why the city is behind us).  Don’t just pop-up a club or use colors because they look good or have symbols/pictures with no significance to what your clubs does (quality over quantity).  When you put your thought in to it, you then put your heart in to it, and when you put your heart in to it, it is usually lasting and you will do what is necessary to protect it and what is necessary to earn respect.

Please note that this blog is the opinion of mine and mine alone, not that of A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S. Motorcycle Club.  It comes from Sassy, who has been riding for over 20 years and around the MC world via my dad and uncle who were members of clubs when M.C. meant Men’s Club.

Be safe out there and please, stay Sucka MC Free.

  1. Much respect to you & your club sista. I share a lot of your pet peeves & often joke about it on my FB statuses. Men sometimes down play it which in turn adds insult to injury & then when I bring up the fact that most who has something smart to say have no HORSE (I'm considered the Bitch for bringing it up)! Anyhow I wanted thank you for posting this blog & showing many that are out there that we demand the respect that is earned. Be safe out there & I too will show them how we are a force to be reckoned with as I push my 750 GXSR. Peace~Sassy from DLP in Philly

  3. Sassy as a member of ALLSTARS, I am proud of you. I agree with the pet peeves mentioned. It really is hard enough on the set for us. But ill add this....and I know im going to get hate mail. STOP ROCKING MC JUST BECAUSE YOUR MAN IS. This is why we get asked "do you ride". We are in an MC because we ride. Dont disrespect the set because your man is in the club. I learned the hard way about this. Yes I was in a coed club, yes I was one of the only females in the club that rode, so I was always with the boys. Im not your eyes and ears about what your man was doing. We was riding !!! whatever else he was doing aint none of my business...Im to busy doing me lol.

My second add would be, STOP WEARING BULLS*#T THAT MAKES YOUR RIDE UNSAFE....Anyone who knows my club knows we bring the sexy. For all those who say woman cant be sexy and bike, I offer you to take a look at my club, we get it done...however, ladies if you cant park your bike because you have on heels or flip flops etc stop it !! I hate pulling up and guys automatically think oh let me go help her. Its one thing if we in tight quaters and you behind me trying to guide me in a spot, thank you, id do it for you. But ive been in a group of guys talking about women who cant park their own bike.

Clearly we have been fighting for respect and will continue....just trying to do some things that make life a little easier. Thank goodness ALLSTARS have support and respect all over the US. Those who know us know how we get down....and if you f*&k with us we f&%k with you (sassys moto lol)

    Thanks VP for the blog.

Good morning, I can relate to the pet peeves listed above especially "can you handle that bike?" I have a Ninja 636 and sometimes ride an R1. I hate when I guy asks me that... If I couldnt handle it I wouldn't be riding it. Another pet peeve of mine is the when I ride with a group of guys I get ask "can I keep up?" i truly believe in safety first but sometimes you just have to rip up the highway. I hate this question because most of the time I know how the guys ride there steel and am at a level that I am comfortable with riding with them. I always make sure to get the address before we a meeting spot so that way if I'm not comfortable with anything the guys are doing I can fall back and still know where I am going. Doesn't mean incant keep up just means I'm not willing to act like an asshole to keep up with your stupidity.
I loved the article and definitely could relate.

  5. You know what I forgot this one...STOP SAYING WOMEN ARE THE REASON YOUR CLUB F'ED UP. Seriously im a self proclaimed tom boy diva....been around men and "men things" all my life. I have seen men fight over woman, gossip about each other, compete about the sillest stuff...yet its always blamed on the woman that we keeping up the drama. Really ? We sorry you let your wife or boo join the club with no bike and now she dictate how you vote, where you go etc.... thats not a womans fault, grow some and handle ya business. Its not our fault you trying to have a jump off a dn you married. You with your jump off at every event but try to bring your wife to the bbq and jump off act a fool. Its rule to this sh*&t, if your jump off aint got her position down....not our fault, grow some and handle ya business. And seriously I love my brothers, but as SASSY stated im going to need you to please stop talking about this is a mans world...you have no bike, havent rode around two corners in one season, and rocking an armband to party, turning your colors around wearing them backwards, did I mention you aint even got a scoot ??!!! My point is this I respect history and protocol. But dont defend your Suckaism with "woman wasnt in history" !! Well your nonfactor Sucka self needs to what... Grow some, and handle ya business.

I will now go to the corner and be quiet. I think lol.

That subject could hurt alot of folks feelings

    2. I love the topic of this reply.... It is definitely a double edge sword. Cuz people do talk, but everything they say out of their mouths isn't the truth!!! Yes brothas be lying on they dicks and women be lying on their twats! I've never seen this to be moreso a problem off the set than it is on the set...

      Great overall insight though ladies....

    3. Thanks Swagg it is nice to hear a mans point, esp on this reply topic although Whoo Dey said I was going to start something and people will get their feels hurt. Which is why I backed off, didnt want to get off topic too much. But I can truly start a new blog on that subject. Women talking about they want respect on the set, when they dont respect themselves enough, which is why men think they can run through a club, because some of the women going behind they so called "sista" back to sleep with they ex then surprised when they treated like a Hoe, stop acting like a Hoe and you will not be treated like a Hoe, slut bucket.

ok I wil stop for now before my President 007 reads this in put me in the corner, AGAIN (lol) dymn I stay in the corner.

    5. Yes, this subject does step on quite a few toes as it should. Folks toes wouldn't get stepped on if they were where they are supposed to me. But topics like this will mainly fly over a lot of peoples heads. Why? Because you can't step on a persons toes if they're always in the air! They key word you memtioned is respect! Gotta have it and I stress it with our members. Especially our female members. It already hard out here for women to get that respect! Once you get that label it's hard to shake it and then it gets applied to the other females in your club unjustly... Cuz men do believe that if one go they all goin! What makes that so bad is it's normally a fair assesment. Which goes back to quality over quantity... Let me stop...lol

    7. Swagg I know thats right !! And you being the very intelligent repectful guy you are is appreciated. You made a good point, sometimes one person can change the way the entire club is viewed. True to form we all grown and should be able to handle grown folks choices without the peanut gallery judging. Its just not how it ends up being unfortunately. The men get labeled on the set as well. Alot of times just because you could have all the women, haters want to say anyone you talking to, you screwing...shame

    8. Thanks Swagg and Whoo Dey I agree. Its a shame esp when the actions of one person can make people think that others will allow it.

  9. Well said Sassy!

We even came and supported your club when we first came out on the scene. Also beat you guys in a on iron competition in Dayton...which it was nice to have REAL female competition at the event! So it was a honor as a newer club, at the time, to see you guys and go up against a female mc that was paving new roads in the state of Ohio!!

My next comments though are personal opinions of mine and not opinions of my club.

It's great to hear a females opinion that is pretty similar to the way I feel.

But IMO as a female club, we need to start respecting each other, before we worry about respect from other male and co-ed MC's. I have been out to many times when other female MC's don't speak, don't hug, roll their eyes, pop their lips at other female clubs that are doing their own thing! If you are a female rider see another female MC pull up on bikes at an event, why not go network with them. Find out their story. Instead of the first thing flying out of your mouth "who are thes "bitches, who do they think they are". When are women going to stop being so catt?! When are they going to start hugging and fellowshiping instead of gossiping and laughing. I have even noticed some women have stopped supporting others because of A MAN!! "Oh I used to mess with *insert bikers name here* and so did *insert female riders name here* so I don't wanna support those hoes" REALLY??

To the female mc's that are doing their own thing stop acting like you can't SHARE the spot light with other females that are true ground pounders, that have excepted this as a lifestyle and not just a hobby. That ride their bikes just as hard as any man or women!

When are these female MC's that are TRUE female MC's going to start supporting each other at their events? Wouldn't you want to support a TRUE female MC instead of "sucka mc's"? I see a lot of female clubs supporting clubs that aren't doing the right thing before they support the clubs that are. Again, does this come from the fact they can't handle sharing the spot light?

Earlier this year I tried to help put together a female unity ride (the first of it's kind since i have been on the scene in the state of ohio) and I reached out to all my TRUE female mc's accross the state, do you know I had females that never got back to me..some even laughed at the idea, or said "we will think about it" and I never heard from them again. But will hollaring how they are a TRUE female MC and they ride? But wouldn't take a 1-2 hour trip to fellowship with other female riders?

So from Hollywood the RIDER and not Hollywood the President of Lady Trend Setters MC I commend you taking your time out to post this! I have nothing but respect for female riders, wether they ride around the corner, or ride state to state!!

    1. Hollywood I agree with your personal opinion. I try to make sure I reach out to other female riders. Much love and respect to you and LTS. Lets make sure we get something going again with the ride. I will offer there is some degree of uneasiness when you havent rode with others. You are unfamiliar with their riding skill and knowledge of the road, riding in formation etc.... Having said that maybe thats why you had resistance ?? But lets try it again lady.

Thanks!! Yes the ride ended up being cancelled due to weather in cbus the night before..but a group of about 20 of us still rode down together. I am getting with my club to try to put another one together and want to try to reach out again to the female mc's from other areas so we can find one common meeting point and fellowship!!! If it doesn't happen this year it def. needs to happen next year!! 2 wheels 1 love!

    3. Hollywood, I understand how you feel. But just because the reach out didnt work doesnt mean they are not true riders. Maybe they had things going on. But as Whoo Dey said let try it again. We just started 100 women riders coalition and ALLSTARS along with 8 other female clubs are founding members. We had our comming out this weekend. It was great unity. I agree we ALL can do a better job, but that is not just with female clubs that is universial and not just in the MC world.

    4. Oh yes that is the one ALLSTARS and other female clubs in Cincy was already for. But because I too live in Columbus I will tell you we had no power in many of the places. I thought it was suppose to be rescheduled but we never heard anything else about it. I can tell you that 100 ladies coalition is putting together a female bike weekend. Also December 29th we are having a party in Louisiville KY. Check us out on group page on facebook: 100 lady bikers

Will def. add the page and thanks for the information, hadn't heard about it just yet. I helped found a all female weekend named "FLOW" (females leading our way) with 7 other women, our first weekend this year was in New Jersey! My club rode out and supported me. I was deeply saddened though by the lack of participation from other female riders. We tried to bring back FSBW but got the blessing from the creators of FSBW to have this weekend. It was great, educational, and I can't wait until the next one! There was a personal reason that the female ride was not rescheduled due to "to many cheifs not enough indians and lack of knowing who was asked to do it" so I am trying to pick the ball back up and reschedule something. And I know the weather was bad when we rode down there was all kind of debree by the iron pony..but it was just nice to get out of cleveland! We def. will have to link up in the near future though!

  10. I have to say really agree with this blog. I’m a new female rider to the MC community and I love motorcycle riding. Wanting too be a part of a positive motorcycle club, I was thinking about prospecting for an all female MC club I saw at a few MC events and that I thought really looked great. I after speaking with the club members, I realized most of these ladies didn’t have bikes and when trying to set up a ride day, one lady even told me she only took photos with her bike and hadn’t ridden her bike in over 2 years . She told me was scared to ride her motorcycle. WTF!!!!! Even while not knowing much about the MC world, I still felt this wasn’t a good look for an MC club, especially for female riders. How can wear an MC patch if you never had a motorcycle or license, don’t enjoy the ride or never come out to ride???? After reading a few Sucka MC Free blogs, I started doing some research on MC clubs. I have met and hung out with other female riders and clubs that share the same love for the ride as I do and I have gained some knowledge of what MC means. I think new members should be required to pass a riding test and own a motorcycle before becoming a full patch member of any MC club. To my fellow lady riders let do the damn thing and show these guys yes we love a photo opportunity but we ride too!!!!!!!

Thanks for the blogs educating me on the facts of what MC really means and how to be

    1. Hey Queen Bee, good for you to do research and have enough knowledge to know that was some straight BS. It is a requirement to have and own a bike to be a member. On our application it not only ask if you own a bike, we ask type of bike, do you have license and insurance. Also if they have not been in the world before we even let them prospect we tell them they need to hang around first, to see if this world is something they can handle. Just because you ride a bike, does not mean you can handle this world and ALLSTARS do not want any Sucka MCs. Thanks for your comments.

  11. Heey Sassy! I love it! All are pet peeves of mine, but I have learned and grown up to take those things as an opportunity to educate both men and women. Whenever I pull up on my VTX 1800 and those questions are put to me I start talking about handling and and dry weight and tight turns and seat height and counter steering and all those things that make folks sorry they asked lol cause then their lack of knowledge comes to the forefront and they get why they shouldn't assume about something they have no knowledge of. lol Now don't think we ladies can just roll up on the set and demand respect cause it ain't happening. Yes you must earn it by riding your ride, knowing protocol and history and riding these highways breaking bread with the elders. Now if you showing up on your bike in pum-pum shorts, a bra top and some stilleto heels, needing a man to help you back into a parking space, no one should take you seriously. I damn sure wouldn't! What we women have to accept is that we are guests on the set, and in order for us to be respected as a "bikers" its not just about riding on the weekends and when you can. Its about living and eating the life and culture all day every day and understanding the bond and understanding that I am my sisters keeper. I wouild venture to say that most ladies who ride fall in the category of avid riders and motorcycle enthusiasts. Me I am no longer built for the true biker life style. The last time I did a week long and slept in a field was over 20 years ago. lol (yes I am over 50 years young) If you are an avid rider and that is what you do its not a bad thing, embrace it. However FAKING THE FUNK is the worse thing you can do cause real bikers can smell you coming a mile away. So ladies much respect to all who sincerely love this thing. ride your ride and don't focus on the fools and keep the rubber to the road.

Shout out to my VP for a great blog:) My pet peeve is motorcycle clubs that don't know how to ride in formation. This is very evident when doing group or charity rides. Road Captains please teach your club how to ride in formation so that everyone stays safe. And now that Sassy has put it out there, you should never have to ask if the Allstars ride. ALLSTARS!!!!!!

    1. Thanks Taz, soooo true. They need to know how to ride in formation and use proper had signals. I saw a female on this group ride actually hold up her right hand to tell us to stop. Im like how are you telling me to stop with your right (brake hand) in the air. Dumb azz. Or they use they foot, its called hand signal. HAND not foot, only use your foot to tell me its a pot hole.

My top 2 pet peeves When I tell a brother that I ride with 13 other women and that we belong to a all female club. The first dumb s*** that flies out of there mouth is are y'all gay? WTF!!!!!!!! So I quickly answer no. And then I usually say the only b**** that you will ever catch between my legs is MZ. 14 I ride a kawasaki ZX 1400 ninja Dumb A**!!!!!! And the second 1 is thanks a lot a bike for you and the famous can you handle that bike? Well anyone that knows X(me) knows I'm a lot of women. So if I pull up on a 250 then yo silly a** will have some simple s*** to say about all this Fluffyness on that little a** bike. and I will come back with no I can't handle all this bike I pushed this big B**** here. 2. Madam X you are a mess.....not the fluffiness on a 250, you can hide that in the puppies. For some reason there is this negative stigma that women riders are gay. First off gay isnt negative...if you like it I love it....but what does that have to do with riding a bike ? I dont get it.

I am founder of the first female all black sport club in Cincinnati, it was three of us and two of us left to start ALLSTARS in 2004. What we took was alot of life lessons for Female MCing to survive. None of the founders of the first club are current members of that club, but the sad part is many of the new ladies dont even know who or even how the club came to be in Cincinnati. Again, know your history, how did the club come to be.

I've got some pet peeves, 1st off sista's stop mean-mugging one another - smile, speak, embrace, believe in you!!! Dont look @ me like I smell like ammonia! You dont know me & you've already formed an opinion of me cuz I let my free spirit flow & am proud of it, Im gonna do me & you should do you! IJS...next brothas, brothas, brothas please stop asking me if I can handle all that between my legs when you pull up next to me @ a stoplight...naw MF I walked this beeeeyatche here...fa real come on now...then in the next breath you say can I ride...ummmm yeah you can...do what I did go thru the MSC & then I brought my own iron! Light changes, hit throttle, head nod & she's outta here! Next comment is for LadyTrendSetters...sis we were headed your way & got the word that it was cancelled to be rescheduled for the next month but we never heard anymore about it! It's not to late we can attempt it again & this time add to it the 100 Lady Bikers -talking about some sexy shyt hit'n the e-way & the streets - ha I dont know if OHIO is ready for that (lol)! Finally cuz I've been told Im long winded I'll say this last thing ignorance on the MC knowledge is no excuse I must admit Ive been riding for 8 years however I am constantly learning more & more about it. While I can google & research I love talking to the old school clubs that have lived thru out the changes & can tell me 1st hand the real 411. 23. Shout out to my VP Mz Sassy......
not really a pet peeve...i find it funny
Dude...can you handle all of that bike.....
me.... naw I can't I'm just on it to look good
    Dude...oh can I get a ride....
Me.....yeah if you put on a leather thong and wife beater and flip flops...
    Dude....okay...

my thought Okay how dumb are you I just told you I can't handle this bike and your dumb azz still want to get on the back..not to mention the leather thong and wife beater...

Me...my bag dawg I don't have a bitch seat on either of my bikes and when I put it on them on it is to hold my purse not your azz

Now let me clear sumthing up....yes I can handle it...My BUSA or MY M109....it depends on what I feel like riding but best believe it's gonna have power....Big girls play with big toys......

Now speaking as the Road Captain of the ALLSTARS my pet peeve is when there are co-ed rides and even all ladies ride the men under estimate us ladies....going HAM right about here....GTFOH and stay the f@@k out of my way.....LAIDES if we are doing an all female ride.....why do we need men as our RC......I know why do you???

My background is I've been riding my own over 12 years and been around bikes and MC clubs my whole life......I don't play I learned from some of the best out there.....the one thing I learned the most is KNOW YOUR LIMIT.....meaning just because someone wants to go 165mph don't mean you are less of a rider because your limit is 140 mph......it's all good.....know your limit

My club know I don't play when we are on the road.....I keep a safe tight formation......don't want a cager to think they have a chance to get in my formation.......The ALLSTARS don't just ride.....we twist and sometimes we twist hard but always we keep it safe....and when we are on the road they make my job easy but it was not always easy....Like Taz said teach your club how to ride together in a formation....especial before putting them in a large group ride.......we (ALLSTARS) had to learn how to ride together and we didn't do that by just talking or texting...lol..we rode and when I seen something that was a concern you and I will talk about it. It don't mean that person can't ride it means as the RC I need you to do this for our formation.

    1. Shout out to Mz Fire and she already knows that she is one bad and I mean baddddd Road Captain. Anyone who knows me know I am out spoken and do things usually my way. But I will tell you this if she is the road captain and ride off the cliff, then I guess it will be two ALLSTARS going off the cliff, I will follow her anywhere. Ladies I must agree know your level, but when we keep using men as our road captain, it sends the message that we cant handle things. If your road captain cant handle things, then maybe you need to reconsider that person in the position. Be mindful, people should be in position not because they cool or yall are friends, but they can actually handle the position, which will be important when shyt hits the fan. Can the people in position handle things. Are they the person you want to represent the club, when the position calls for it??? If you say no then I suggest your club re-votes. I know Mz Fire is the best Road Captain.

    2. Thank you madam VP.....I love riding with the ALLSTARS everytime you say you would follow me off a cliff I am so humbled....because that mean you trust me with your life and I take that serious, to me that is sisterhood.

but for real real any of the ALLSTARS could lead a pack because that is a requirement of our club...know your limits and know how to ride and if you don't we will teach you both

I agree that if you can't trust the people that are in a position then why are they there???

Well written Sassy! We have both been riding for quite some time with you having a few more years under your belt than I. I always found it interesting, well I should say annoying, that some men would feel the need to ask me "hey why do you have such a big bike?" WOW, really? I didn't realize that being a female limits me to 500cc. (mind you I ride a Kawasaki ZX-12R & a Hayabusa) He wouldn't say that to a male rider so why try to insult me with that line of questioning? Or how about...."So you really ride those big bikes ?" My response tends to be " I don't have garage jewelry" Meaning I ride my bikes I didn't get into this to ride around the corner sit & look cute posted up on my motorcycle. I didn't spend all this money stretching my motorcycles 6 over on one with a full Micron exhaust & 9 over on the other with a full Brock's exhaust to do nothing with them! Fellas I'm a rider just like most of you, give me the respect you would want in return. Over the years I have had to work that much harder to earn the same amount of respect that would be given freely to my male counterparts.

For years I was not able to call another group of women to go ride with, it was basically limited to the guys. Over the years this has changed drastically and now I can easily pick up the phone and call over a dozen different ALLSTARS MC members & countless numbers of other female riders in the area. Thankfully most of these pet peeves can be taken care of with time, persistence & education.

Sassy, that was a very good blog. I can imagine how annoying it must be for a female rider to have to deal with all those stereotypes and dumb questions. I know as a man nobody better ask me no shyt like that if they like having a mouth full of teeth. That being said, sexism is still running rampant in society, not just the motorcycle community. Men will be men and our ego is a mother*******. I give all female riders the utmost respect cuz I know you as women in the McDonald's community have to deal with what we deal with in addition to being a part of a community where you are being looked at as inferior until you go the extra length to show otherwise. I took the 600 mile ride from ny to Cincinnati to attend queen city divas annual event last year and did a ride with a few of the Ohio Mc's including ALLSTARS. 007 road captained the ride on that big add busa so I know first hand that her bike isn't anybody's "GARAGE JEWELRY", she rides that thing! It was nice to see that the Cincinnati female Mc's that I met (Queen City Divas, ALLSTARS) actually had bikes and rode them. Much respect. Thanks Sassy for sharing the female mc perspective with us here at sucka free and I definitely enjoyed the read. I know about these pet peevish because when I chop it up with my female club members and other female rider friends they always complain about the same issues you out in your blog. Keep pushing that gixxer and I hope to see you again in the near future. Stay sucka free!

I need other female riders to see the pet peeves of properties and understand from your point. Just like they dont like being judge they should not as well. They assume because you are a property you do not ride. While I am not a property it is a pet peeve of mine, when others assume. Other pet peeve is talking about properties when they dont really know anything about it. Honestly, properties have to deal with things that other female MCs dont or cant even handle.

Just like with everything else, while I am not a property, it is still whatever floats your boat. All I know is if you are a female rider I give you respect.

My pet peeve is quit simple, the simple fact that they think they are better than me because they are rocking a vest with a few words is quit entertaining to me for I represent me with or with colors BMW... BY MY SELF... and proud of no other way to be and ride hard. The colors don't make a rider, their passion for riding does... I simply like to ride... Now that's sucker FREE...

    2. Another post from Facebook:

Good morning, Sassy....I, as an independent female rider, get MORE love and respect from the MC community now, then I ever did when I rocked hard colors. I see a lot goin on within this community, but ever since completing my solo coast to
coast mission on 2s, on my GSXR-1000, I've learned my lane very well and that my "pet peeves" won't be set right with me complaining bout them, I jus fix the situation as I walk into them. Also, as a female, who lives and breathes this LIFESTYLE of being a biker and a REAL rider in this world dominated by men. I've learned the rules and to follow them closely and I keep learning them everyday, as a guest to this lifestyle, I try hard to maintain my roll and show respect, keep my legs closed and therefore receive respect so I don't have too many "pet peeves"....they aren't worth my time fussing and worrying over. Too many roads to explore and people to meet and break bread with. Much Love and Respect, Fam ((hugs))

  30. People keep saying this is a male dominated lifestyle and women are guest. While I understand to a point. Men need to understand that all things change. Women are no longer guest in the MC world we are and have always been a part of the community. Go back in history you will see there was women on the set and may not have been as many women riders as there is now, you dont beleive me read "Soul on Bikes" Tobie Gene Levingston talks about a female riders (pg. 79).

I say this: All things change, just like blacks use to be slaves (guest brought over on ships) but guess what we are no longer slaves nor guest heck we built this country.

Women stop acting like guest, then maybe we can stop being treated like guest. Now I am not saying go demand respect, like I said in the blog it is earned. Keep your legs closed, except to spread them when mounting that iron horse. And keep your mouth closed and let the roar of the engine on them two wheels do all your talking. Lets get it ladies!!

    1. I AM a guest and will always remain a welcomed guest because I earn it by riding my ride. Things may change in the common world but in THIS lifestyle of ours, the men rule, they have always ruled and they WILL always rule because us females cannot do this by ourselves. The men don't need us to maintain this lifestyle, but best believe we require their knowledge and understanding. Yes, I agree, women have been riding and doing their thing AFTER the men started this lifestyle but they also, did it as a welcomed guest by the dominant men. If they chose to not allow it, they never would have accomplished as much as they did. Women have their place and we need to stay in it and support and while sum of us can ride just as hard and just as long and take care of our beasts just as well as any man...we all have to admit, it was the men who taught us to begin with and with that comes the respect they deserve. I remember a blog from Ronnie Streeter, that was posted not to long ago that actually sums up perfectly, what my point is, please refer back to her blog, of which I support 100%. Sassy..you did state it perfectly tho: "keep your mouth closed and let the roar of the engine on them two wheels do all your talking" I highly agree. So Im happy to know that next time I see the A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S in the ATL, Myrtle or anywhere outside a 5 hours radius that it won't be because ya'll trailed up your bikes but becaues ya'll RODE YOUR BEASTS....right?

      Delete
    2. Thanks Kelz, however I would have to disagree with you on some points. While men dominate does not mean they have right to be disrepectful and women should just take it because its they world. Without women the lifestyle would not be the same (can you imagine a hangout spot and no women would be there, trust men come to where the women are at) my point is women are and have been involved in this lifestyle and this lifestyle was built up with women involved, all the history books I have read about the set always talks about women being involved. So yes they do need us. Like I said women have been involved and various capacities and they are not going anywhere.

We may not ride across country like you did this summer, but best believe we do get it in and yes outside a 5 hour radius. Hell I dont many men who rode cross country ride like you did on a sport bike, so again women are part of this very lifestyle. Has been and will continue in one way or another.

    3. I will say this, and im trying to be calm about it. Where ever the ALLSTARS ride to we will get there safely. We will return home safely to our children, husbands and jobs. That being said, I will not ride outside MY ride for anyones approval. I need not post my miles, ride alone, or submit to any man or woman to prove my title. I ride a safe ride on my bike for my pleasure. If that means I trail my sport bike to myrtle, so be it. If that means I ride my cruiser to myrtle so be it. What will not happen is that I am intimidated by so called riders into doing something outside my ability.

I read a very nice post on fb by Little Man in NY about how people are being pressured into trying to fit others definations. Some are losing their life trying to keep up with the Joneses. Stop the madness ride your ride. I had an interesting conversation with some rides about some fb posts about riding cross country on a sport bike..alone. The response was collectively thats crazy, and unsafe. Again this was a mix of men and women that have been on the set for years. I defended the ride saying hey thats their ride for whatever reason. I on the other have a daughter and career im responsible to. I dont offer that as an excuse because I need none. The bottom line for me, ride YOUR ride. Because when the Eulogies come, mine will not say she sure did ride all around the world first. Its not my legacy. My God, daughter, family, service to my community, and then my ride...IN That Order ! I speak for me.

Having said that let me add a Pet Peeve..... MOFO's trying to prove or define others ride cause of what they do. I dont care if you ride around in circles, do that safely. Ride YOUR ride. The funny thing is we still give more respect to a man riding in circles, yet put more pressure on a woman to do more to prove herself.

    4. In the words of Whoo Dey: Hell to the negro spiritual naw lol.

Well said Whoo Dey and that is why I roll with the ALLSTARS. We ride our ride and not to the definition of someone else, rather its 200 miles or 400 miles.

Ride your Ride! And do not allow someone else to get you out of your comfort zone.

      Delete
    5. Sassy, Agreeing to disagree is what makes good friendships even better.

Whoo Dey....dang it woman...you are on POINT. Some of what you just stated is exactly what folks need to learn and embrace. Ever since I went down in 2008, I have been a huge advocate of RIDING YOUR OWN RIDE. I promote that at all times.

Nobody is being asked to ride beyond their abilities, whats being asked it that folks be 100%. Keep it real ALL the time. Its those folks that BRAG and bash other folks for not riding but they are the very same ones trailering their bike 100 miles and unloading their bike one exit before destination and then riding up to event like they rode it the whole way and then TELL folks, they rode their shit. Its the lies that is getting folks fed up. Little Man has a point but folks aren't truly being pressured to ride outside their limits, they are being pressured to tell the damn TRUTH and learn their OWN limits and ride by those limits and if you aren't capable, then don't do it! Folks just aren't admitting the truth to themselves and they get caught up in with the masses, adrenalin flow, smell of the exhaust, sounds of the bikes and instead of saying "ya'll can have that, Im good right here" they don't listen to their own instincts and they crack that throttle, NOT for the love of the ride, but to impress those who are watching. Thats when it gets all bad.

I also need to make sure its clear that more than a few folks have ridden across the country, several times, on a sportbike (which the choice of your beast is neither here nor there, depends all on the rider and what they can handle and are comforable with) and sometimes they did it alone. There is nothing wrong with this. Life is meant to be LIVED and enjoyed. Folks just need to do what makes them happy. If I choose to ride everyday for 38 days, then thats my perogative, the same as it is anybody who wants to fly a plane around the world or sail the circumference of the ocean, the challenge is there for the taking. I didn't CHOOSE to ride alone, I asked for company but folks just weren't able to one reason or another and there was a few who rode with me for the parts they could. I won't pressure anybody, ever, to ride outside their limits, I will encourage them to ride their ride and BE HAPPY doing it. I can't speak for anybody else but I don't have to prove anything to anybody, my kids and my family support everything I try to accomplish. I do what I do for ME.

As far as the safety aspect, you are correct! Safety should be first and foremost. My ride is always based on safety, thats why its important folks should know their bikes inside and out and basic mechanics so they can make sure their bike is as healthy as can be so they can ride safely. My ride was very safe, the weather was the only dangerous aspect of my travels. I won't go into details here but when you have God, the power of multiple prayers and a great support system from folks who have been where I was, then a safe, successful mission was all that could be expected.

    6. Please be all the way clear NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF HIP HOP AND R&B, have the ALLSTARS trailered they scoots, got off them and proclaimed or insinuated that we rode anywhere. We have never told anyone they arent a rider because of where they ride or how they do it. Ride YOUR ride. Again if you are a circle rider, and you enjoy that circle, you know every bump in that circle, you know if you can handle the circle in all weather GET IT THEN.

We do however promote riding within our club. I think any club should foster a sense of growth as far as skills. My PREZ turns corner like slicing through butter...me, ummm yeah ill catch up on the straight away. However on a recent trip with another club I was told my skills were up to par so much, they would ride with me anyday. Thats love and respect. We should be offering to help each other grow in our rides rather than dogging each other out about what we do or dont.

I will also add this piece Kelz, next time you coming our way, let us know, we will try to accomodate your ride. Hell we may even be headed where you are. But hear this if you going into the snow and Ice, I Whoo Dey aint taking that risk. My little one expects me, and that responsiblity trumps all. So many times cagers dont see us when there is perfect weather, in ice and snow the reaction time is non exsistent. I will agree the grace of God is with us all.

ALLSTARS are respected in many states, and its not from a trailer lie. We are : Alluring Lovely Ladies Sophistiscated Talented And Riding Steel...ENOUGH SAID.

If you are independent well take your independent self to where the independent riders hang out. How in the hell is an independent rider gonna demand respect on the set.
What should be respected on the the set is COLORS....OUR COLORS COME AT A COST AND HAVE THEIR BENEFITS and because you don't want to pay that cost you go independent and still expect to reap the benefits as someone with COLORS
I am so confused on that ~ independents talking about what should be done on the set and not be done.
Damn it go and get some COLORS AND THEN SPEAK YOUR PIECE ON WHAT FOLKS ARE DOING ON THE SET.

TO ME THAT IS LIKE BEING IN PTA TRYING TO TELL FOLKS WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND YOU DON'T HAVE KIDS....OR A PLUMBER TELLING AN ELECTRCIAN HOW TO DO WIRING
no you just can't do that!!!!!!

    8. Thank you for your comments and I agree with you to a point. But what about if they are an independent rider because the club they were with was a sucka mc. They are now independent because they do not want to be seen as a club jumper, but also no longer want to be associated with a messy club???

Some people are independent not because they want to but because maybe they have tired to change the club from sucka to suckafree and it continued to fall upon death ears. Maybe once they became involved and begin to learn about what this lifestyle should really be about, they began to see the club they with as a sucka mc???

      Just food for thought.

    9. If they independent they should keep they mouf shut, and if the used to be in a sucka MC, they obviously were a sucka themselves for ever being in that club... or if they somehow had the knowledge as to what the right or wrong way of doing things was, why they didn't make that sucka MC better.... either way they are WACK and don't have a leg to stand on.....

  31. OMG Sassy you hit my nerves dead center with this one. I am currently independent rider but I ride around with great clubs. Sometimes when I attend MC events on 2’s some patch females will speak to the patch members I rode in with but won’t speak and even ignore me as if I am beneath them or want her man. Sometime I feel like saying woa biotch don’t be hating cause I’m on two's and you not. Sometimes its females on 2’s as well that won’t speak, as if they are too damn good to speak to an independent female rider. However I observe these same female chatting it up male independent riders. WTF!!!!! I love riding and just because I don’t rock color don’t make me inferior to any full patch female. This is still a man’s world and we are still just squirrels. I think female riders should always go out of her way to greet and be friendly with other female riders with or without color. Get her story before judging her. Hey you never know you may have just found a new prospect that can bring more value to your club.

Thanks Sassyy for bringin this type of Suckaism to the table!!!

Great blog Sassy!! I can relate to many of the pet peeves and comments. Being very new to the set, I make mistakes and learn something new everyday. As a former MP, I understand the challenge for females who are plagued with sterotypes and a different set of rules from men. I respect and accept guidance from those women that have come before me and paved the way. Many of you have offered great advice namely Sassy, 007, Ladylocs and others as well. I joined an MC to ride with ladies that have the same passion for it that I do. I am told all the time that I take this MC stuff to seriously but I love the ride and the comradery, so how else should I take it. Starting with home, I will continue to try to change things for the better, one step at a time.

    1. Thank you Fantacee and that is all you can do is change things one step at a time. We have all had growing and learning pains. The thing is once you know and learn what are you going to do with that knowledge.

I tell you that is why with the ALLSTARS it is required that each and every member own a bike. If someone one want to interview and do not ride and own a bike we will NOT put colors on them not even as a probie. If that would have meant getting rid of folks then so be it, we are MC for a reason.

  34. good morning, much respect all the male and female rider I'm not a ride in but I do love bikes. I must say that your blog was very informative. I like that you gave some history, also with you touching on the pop up club, and about quality not quantity. I always make a joke about the community and call it a circus. no disrespect to all the real ride is out there. but a lot of them need to take a lesson from your book. continue your lover riding and be safe.

  35. What I appreciate most about the blog is the points made of the capability(and then some) of female riders. What I appreciate about the comments is that everyone has eloquently stated their position and or opinion. I'm sorry more men have not commented but it's great the ladies have expressed themselves without the hmmm, other stuff that sometimes associated with women and women conversing or debate/discussing a subject. I've definitely enjoyed reading.

    1. Thank you Ronnie, I so appreciate your comments. Yes I would agree we all have different opinions about issues, and sometimes what is important is not what you disagree about but how you disagree. Debate and disagreements are healthy and can be learning tools, if done correctly. So to that I thank everyone who has posted and welcome others.

Ok I'm confused am I only considered a rider if I ride around the world in 90 days & back? How about don't judge me if I trail my bike especially since you know nothing about me - familty life, health issues, job issues - just know when you see me in Mrytle, ATL, CHicago my iron is with me! No I won't be on my iron in the winter cuz on my opinion it's just not SAFE & I've got people that need me! IJS...trying to prove myself to anybody is not why I got on the MC set - but to ride is why. Ha I think I'm gonna leave this alone before I get sent to the corner! LMAO

    1. Hey Big Joker, Thank you for your comments. I truly appreciate and agree with you completely. Not only do we own our bikes, but we own the trucks and trailers. And yes we can strap, load and unload all by ourselves.

I read that you use the word "curb monkey", I thought us country folk were the only ones to use that term! lol. When you show up with your

  42. Enjoyed the read. And by the sounds of it you can handle yours on two wheels, but when someone stretches a GSXR 1000, puts a 330 tire on it.....they no longer RIDE that bike. I knw you didn't mention the fat tire but you see it all the time....I've also seen chicks on the set that can't ride the bike they own. Dropping their shit in parking lots... even seen a chick be rode around on the back of her bike by some independent rider, while she was wearing her clubs rag, mind you she was in a club that was mostly males. Or they fuck over their ex in the devorce and take the bike from him out of spite. they use it to draw attention... the sad part is these obvious.....quantity over quality clubs allow them to wear their colors, without any respect to themselves or this life style... I do tho know and have riden with chicks that can kick ass on 2 wheels. I'm talkn stand up wheelies to draggin elbows...so to those woman out there who can truely ride I say.. Do your thang...to all those attention seeking, patch wearing, dick riding, club hoping whores... I say...stop ruining this life style and ruining it for the chicks that have earned our respect..

    1. Thank you for your comments. No I do not have the fat tire kit, I must admit I do love how it looks, I stretched and lowered mine to keep it from wheeling when I was on the track. When I was thinking aboout the tire kit it was when I was thinking about really putting it in the shows. May the female was on the back of her bike because the the guy was having bike problems or it was her dude, hopefully not because she could not ride (as you can see I am tring to see the good, lol).

Just because you have been down or dropped your bike while parking does not mean you cant handle it. I know when a guy does it no-one thinkgs he cant handle it, so the same should apply to a woman. If you truly ride your bike at some point you are going to drop the bike. I have always said there are two types of rides: One who has gone down and one who is going down.

    2. 1st of all can we all just get along???:-) What really bothers me is those that do not believe in things evolving. When our four fathers of the MC began, bikers where considered rebels, not following the norm of there surroundings. So it bothers me when people have problems with a group, because they ride sportbikes instead of cruisers, metric instead of Harleys, or I rode to Myrtle and or Round Up and they trailered.("Who Cares") Don't get me wrong if you MC you should be MC meaning you own a bike you ride your bike, and you respect others that do the same.

Now I think some people need to use common sense everyone is not ready to ride 700 plus miles in a day and everyone is not ready to cruise on the interstate at 90 MPH plus on the intersate and for sure everyone is not ready to hit the twisties like the Tail of the Dragon, but to me being MC means having a passion for motorcycles first and foremost then wanting the brotherhood sisterhood that being in a club should bring

I feel as African Americans and other minority groups they try to devide us as is, so why do we allow these little differences come in between us. GIVE US FREE!!!

    3. NoSweat I think you hit the nail on the head! The love of bikes should be embraced in all its diversity. As long as your love for the MC culture is authentic you should not be judged based on what you ride and how you ride. When I rode to your side of town from over here in ny in one day on a sport bike alone people called me crazy, but that's my ride. Not everybody has the same desire to do that but that doesn't make them any more sane than me or any less of a rider. I'd rather see someone trail their bike somewhere because they accept the fact that they aren't comfortable riding that long distance and know they got where they're going safely that to have to attend their funeral because they felt pressured to do something they weren't ready for. Hopefully one day all bikers will unite for the love of the iron, no matter what make or model, or race or sex of the rider. Let's keep those 2 wheels on the road and keep it sucka free!

      Delete
    4. Wow thank you both No Sweet and $o Icy. I couldnt agree with you more. People kill me thinking because they rode 700 miles they better than someone who rides 400 miles. WTF we all ride and have the passion for riding. Just because someone rode 700 miles does not mean you are a better rider. So please just stop it with the judgement. I Ride MY Ride and You ride yours. IN THAT ORDER!
